Product Description Betrayed by her longtime vampire love, Louisiana cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse must now not only deal with a possible new man in her life-the oh-so-handsome shapeshifter Quinn-but also contend with a long-planned vampire summit. With her power base weakened by hurricane damage to New Orleans, the local vampire queen is vulnerable to those hungry for a takeover. Soon, Sookie must decide what side she'll stand with. And her choice may mean the difference between survival and all-out catastrophe.

Not Harris' best August 31, 2010 L. Crawley (Virginia) I was looking forward to read about Sookie going to the Vampire summit, but the the story kind of dragged through most of the book. So mnay new characters intoduced, too much deatail on Sookie's day to day activies (like putting on her makeup and trying on a dress, boring) made me stop reading this for a few weeks. Then I decided to pick it up and finish the darn thing. The exploxsion scene was pretty intense, but I still found this book rather blah. Sookie seems to have bad luck when it comes to the men in her life also. What baffles me is how she still hasn't forgiven Bill. Lorena was is maker and he was compelled to be with him. But she jumps into bed with Eric, and now Quinn...with no thought of any consequences. And this attraction thing with her and Eric is simply sickening. I can already tell that Harris favors this couple; why don't she do us the favor of killing Bill off in the series so we don't have to see him come into Marlottes anymore? I am not a Sookie/Bill fan due to the show; I feel that Bill is a lot more grounded than Eric. Overall, this book was not my favorite. If you can skip this one to read the next, try to do so...but then that book wouldn't make much sense. :(
Someone Call 911!!! August 20, 2010 Dave (Oklahoma) All Together Dead, Book 7 of the Southern Vampire Mysteries is the perfect extension to Book 6. Out of all the Stackhouse books, this one has the least romance and the most action and mystery of them all. There are plenty of relationship quibbles, but no real romance. That may mean that it is a great hit with guys, but you can decide that for yourself. Speaking as a guy, I really like this book.
All the action takes place in a new town called Rhodes, the home of the national vampire summit, with Sookie acting as a paid employee of the Queen, Sophie-Anne of Louisiana. It seems there are some things to clear up from the all out royal assault from Mississippi to the throne of Louisiana, and of course, Sookie remains the only neutral eye witness. The problems don't end there. Coming back from the dreadful wake of hurricaine Katrina, the Queen of Lousiana finds her state's finances in a shaky situation, and her once proud empire, an empire that needs help. Can she garner other states support, or will she face revolt from vamps who wonder at the fact that the King of Mississippi was killed at her party? What about the Fellowship of the Sun? What kind of support do they have in urban areas? What about the Gizeh hotel where the convention is being held? How does it differ from other vamp hotels? How does a former Were feel about being turned vamp a few weeks later?
It all adds up to a really exciting time, I can tell you.
Highly recommended.
Another Great Sookie Book July 29, 2010 Andrew Bebow (Western NC) Once you're hooked on these books they just get better and better. This was outstanding, just like all the others...
Vampire politics galore June 22, 2010 J. Shetrone (Christiansburg, VA United States) A lot of the time, later books in a series can feel watered down or old, but I've really enjoyed the path this series is on. Despite the heavy vampire politics in the recent books, things are not too difficult to follow here. In fact, some of the clues were neon-sign obvious to me, though Sookie doesn't figure things out until way too late. She also makes some logical jumps that I'm not sure I would make in her shoes. I'm finding myself warming to her relationship with Eric, and disappointed in Quinn. I thought the most interesting part of this book was the action Sookie takes that can possibly expose her "gift" to the public at large. I'm already on to the next book, so we'll see what happens!
On-going Price RIP OFF - Go to the Library - BETTER YET READ IT FOR FREE IN THE BOOK STORES June 9, 2010 S. Grandone (Toronto CA) 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
ANOTHER RIP OFF!!! Harris get with the program and make your publishers sell digital formats for reasonable prices. You should be ashamed of yourself encouraging destruction of trees and wastefulness and for the greediness of your publishers and yourself if you are getting a bigger cut due to the larger profit margin. SHAME ON YOU.
BOYCOTT THESE RIDICULOUS PRICES FOR E-BOOKS - NEVER PAY AS MUCH OR MORE THAN A PAPERBACK OR AS MUCH AS A HARDBACK.
