Amazon.com Product Description Ideal for home or recreational use, the Fiskars hatchet with 14-inch handle features a tough, forged steel axe head. The one-piece handle is over molded around the head to prevent loosening and separation. The stay-sharp fully hardened blade comes with a non-stick coating that cuts with less effort and resists rust. The included fiberglass composite handle is lightweight and strong, and the hatchet includes a plastic sheath for easy transportation and safe storage.
Product Description The FISKARS 14" Handy Axe is a combination of design and functionality. Its small size makes it ideal for camping and other recreational use and it fits easily into a backpack. Like all Fiskars axes, the ultra-sharp blade is made of high quality drop-forged steel for easy sharpening and maximum durability, and the unique blade design makes cutting easier and safer. The over-molded head eliminates the risk of the head loosening and the super-strong fiberglass handle will never need to be replaced. Each axe also includes a handy sheath for carrying and storage. br- Overall length: 14" br- Lifetime warranty br- Drop forged steel head for sharpness and durability br- Over-molded head eliminates risk of loosening br- Strong fiberglass handle never needs replacing br- Includes plastic sheath for safe storage and carrying br- Made in Finland

Nice hatchet November 16, 2008 J. Morse (western MA) This hatchet is sharp. No question. It's balanced well and nicely engineered and crafted. I am using it to split kindling which it does superbly. It is a good weight for light duty splitting. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the plastic handle is slippery, especially with any glove material that tends to get slippery with cold and ice...nylon, fleece etc. I suspect I can find a way to solve that on my own but I am a little surprised, given the quality of design and engineering, that wasn't taken into account in the first place.
BEST HATCHET EVER!!! September 19, 2008 I just got this hatchet in the mail today and have been chopping large kindling with it all day and I'm extremely impressed. I can only say good things about it. First off the handle is unbreakable, it can even stand being run over by a truck! And the blade of the hatchet is very sharp and the steel is quite nice. I'm also planning on buying the 17-Inch Splitting Hatchet because I'm very satisfied with their line of axes/hatchets!
best camp hatchet ever August 14, 2008 C. grey This is the one to get, sharp, light weight, and comfortable. It is much better than the 8 inch one I purchased for backpacking, and hardly weighs more. granted, this is not for splitting wood, it is for felling small trees, removing branches, and making kindeling. You won't be sorry
hatchet April 15, 2008 Mr. C Never had an hatchet that worked this good right out of the box. Great for cutting small camp wood, limbs and branches.
one awesome ax ! March 5, 2008 Travis 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have purchased several of these axes for my family and we love them, they are extremely sharp and cut with ease, the one fault that I'm willing to put up with is that they do dent and nick the cutting edge pretty easily because the blade is so fine edged, even when nicked up they cut way better than other axes, I have never found a better cutting edge than these
