LaCrosse weatehr station November 27, 2008 Dennis D. Bullock (Everett, WA) A great value. Easy to set up and get going. You will likely want to switch from wireless to hard wired to get more frequent samples after you get into it a little.
Great Product! November 26, 2008 M. Vanbuskirk After waiting and reading reviews of weather stations for the last 2 years I finally found a station for the price I wanted. I was nervous because of the many poor reviews I seemed to find with all models. This model had mostly good reviews but I was still nervous. I shouldn't have been! It's great. Took half an hour to set up. Worked great in every way right from the start. Now, a month later it's still running fine. I bought antenna mast mounting hardware at Radio Shack and a lenth of heavy pipe from HD. I wish La Cross would embrace the modern world and make the computer hookup a USB. Will have to buy an adapter too, but not enough of an issue to bother me. Also, others have mentioned the backlight on the screen makes noise. It does and it seems strange but not much noise at all. It's not an issue, just an oddity. You will have to toggle between screens to see all the information you want which is too bad, I'm suprised it's so hard to find a model that shows all data on one screen. I'm transmitting from the roof directly above the room the reciever is in so cannot comment on range, can't be more than 20 feet away from each other. Can't comment on the software much. I've installed it but don't have an adapter yet to hook up the unit. The software seems pretty rudimentary. So glad I bought it, would highly recommend it to anyone.
Very nice weather station November 23, 2008 April Y. Carpenter (Quaker City, OH) I like the station very much. It performs well and isn't diffcult to use.
Very good November 9, 2008 J. Layton (Deerfield Beach, Fl) Easy to set up. Did not work consistantly wireless but was easy to hard wire. Now works fine. It seems to be pretty accurate. [..] it uploads fine.
Terrible customer service and not made for the outdoors November 6, 2008 R. S. Farmer (Tucson, Arizona) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
La Crosse has a terrible attitude toward it's customers, so I recommend looking for another company. My weather station worked well enough initially, though the set up is not great for outdoor mounting. Then, the wires connecting the wind vane to the transmitter were chewed by a pack rat. No problem, I thought, I'll just call and pay for a new wire from La Crosse. Unfortunately, La Crosse does not help with problems and says you are on your own if it is not a warranty issue. Further, the system is designed so that the wire cannot be replaced, which seems really dumb, since it will obviously be exposed to birds and other creatures in the outdoors. And it is even dumber since the other end of the cord has a simple plug. When the customer service people said they were not interested in helping, I wrote to the company president, but I just got the same customer service reply. I recommend doing business with a company that cares about it's customers and I plan to avoid this outfit.
