Product Description SanDisk Extreme III CompactFlash is designed for serious professional photographers who demand one of the fastest, most rugged, and most durable memory cards on the market. Professional photographers who work under less than ideal conditions expect more from a flash memory card. More speed. More performance. More reliability. SanDisk's new Extreme III card delivers everything you want plus a whole lot more! That's because only SanDisk Extreme III memory cards feature innovative ESP Technology for the fastest speeds and highest performance. ESP stands for "Enhanced Super-Parallel Processing". Simply put, it means you are getting the fastest read/write speeds available - an amazing minimum 20MB per second sequential read and write speed - speed you'll definitely appreciate whenever you find yourself shooting and storing pictures in harsh environments, extreme temperatures or at high altitudes.Every SanDisk Extreme III CompactFlash card comes with RescuePRO so you can recover images, documents, mail, video, music - just about any digital file, with ease. Built with leading-edge media recovery algorithms, RescuePro lets you preview recoverable data before you try to retrieve it. With RescuePRO's unique recovery algorithm for MPEG audio and MPEG video recovery (MPEG-1/2/3) what you see, and what you hear, is what you can recover.Rely on SanDisk Extreme III cards when speed is critical to getting the right shot.

Works - Fast but not fastest. December 11, 2008 R. Cole (San Francisco, CA USA) Not sure how to review a memory card. I mean it meets its specs, presumably, and hasn't failed - what can I say? - I use it in my D300, which can generate picture data much faster than the Extreme III or Extreme IV can handle, so a high-speed burst of pictures (RAW mode) comes to a screeching halt after about 18 pictures with the Extreme III and takes several seconds before you can burst again. My understanding is that with the Extreme IV it will take 2-3 more pictures before coming to a halt, and recover from the halt faster. So, I don't regret buying the Extreme III, since it is considerably cheaper than the Extreme IV, but I suspect my next CF card purchase will be an Extreme IV - in a year or two after the price comes down. Dunno how it would compare to other manufacturer's versions of a similar card.
A great product -- but I am not sure what I got November 15, 2008 Roger J. Buffington (Huntington Beach, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered my Extreme III 8.0GB CF Card from Amazon.com. I just about never have issues with Amazon, and I buy a lot of retail items from them. This sale was an anomaly. The card was not in a standard SanDisk box, and I think it was used. There was nothing on the Amazon website that told me I was getting something used or returned or whatnot. This is not what I look for from Amazon. The card itself is marvelous. It features a fast write-speed, and 8GB is a huge amount of storage. I generally shoot Nikon digital photographs using RAW format, which means that my files are about 7.5MB per photo. Nonetheless, this card will hold 480 shots of this kind. CF cards have come a long way in a short time! This is a great card, and I am sure that I will buy several more. But next time I am going to have to be more careful where I buy them. I don't like buying used items. Period.
still good November 10, 2008 L. Woods (South Carolina) I was very unsure about this after I received it in the mail. It was not in a retail package....... Anyway I've had it for about 3 months now and it has worked with out any issues. Go ahead buy it.
Fast, Accurate, Works October 15, 2008 Michael Hager (Fountain Inn, SC) I bought 4 Extreme III 8gb cards for my Nikon D300. While not technically as fast as the Extreme IV, the substantial price difference is well worth it to me. Download speed to the computer is quick and I have not experienced any problems with image storage or transfer. Good reliable product.
Excellent purchase September 24, 2008 Martin Haschke I recieved the memory chip in a brown bag as the reviews had said and it was shipped to me very fast, faster than promised. The memory card works very well and for the $20 savings is worth buying.
