Not true! February 12, 2010 B. Linder (San Jose, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've played through the game twice, and then another 3 or 4 times with different 3rd party mods. I truly enjoy the game play, can play for hours and not get tired of it. And the online play opens it up even more!
Some Pros to consider:
Fully customizable; you can get a huge assortment of ships and weapons, there are even weapons not part of the game play that are rare and powerful!
You don't have to make money legally. You can pirate off of the infinite supply of NPC ships.
You can make money from cargo, or from fighting/missions.
Online play is great and allows for some fun times.
Combat is intuitive and easy to learn.
A few cons:
Unlike what the adds say, you CANNOT be EITHER good or evil! You can do evil things, and have people hate you, but the main story line is based only in the good.
There are some situations and items that one would have to "cheat" to know exist, such as the type 10 weapons.
Overall i do love to play, online and off. The single player takes over a day of in game time, and that's if you rush it, knowing what to do, where to go, and how to get there.
Awesome Game and great delivery service! January 22, 2010 Kenson Martz (Olympia, Washington, USA) Wow, I got great service on this game, exactly how the seller, kdrummer, sold it to me for! I love this game, even though it is about 10 years old. I would play this game until I was 80 if I am still into games at that age!
Decent game November 19, 2009 Alex Dawson The game is moderately fun. Combat is what you'd expect, and pacing is pretty good. During the main campaign there isn't a lot of time to explore as a lot of factions are shooting at you. Trade is very basic, and there was never much incentive to build up a large pile of cash because the best things to buy are also limited by level caps. Caps you won't reach in the main campaign. This game could've been a lot better but it was missing small things, like every ship moves at the same speed, turning rates are the only things that are different. You can't capture other ships, you have to buy new a new one every time, which means trading in your old one (no garage of favorite spacecraft). I don't see much replayability potential. Now that I've played some of the x series I can compare the two. Freelancer keeps the action moving, and it feels very tense when the whole galaxy is chasing you. Lots of excitement. X2 doesn't have that as much, but it's a much deeper game in terms of strategy and economics. One thing freelancer does better is move your ship faster, though there's still room for improvement.
Overall all it was moderately fun and pretty challenging. I'd pay <10 dollars for it.
An incredible game. July 6, 2009 M. Paula (Brazil.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It was sad that Microsoft removed the multiplayer global server for this game, however, a community, [...] re-created it, and it's more populated than ever.
Still, an incredible game, if I knew, I would've got the collector's edition.
Freelancer June 1, 2009 J. Schuster (Bellinham, WA) Very informative. Almost too much information. I like it and it helps to know what to expect so one doesn't have to redo each episode as often.
